I was delighted to be the recipient of National Lottery Community funding via the Sub Saharan Advisory Pannel (SSAP) and virtually participate in the ‘Days Ahead’ project from December 2020- March 2021.
The project began with a call-out for young creatives from the African community and Diaspora and the vision to explore deep narratives, tracing colonial tropes and creating new knowledge in their stead through creative responses to the project.
I worked in collaboration with a fantastic movement facilitator and professional dancer Mujib Yahaya and together we navigated the opportunities (and challenges) of collaborating creatively on-screen during lockdown.

“Their work invites the audience to enter on a journey, to dispel myths and re-channel representation. Williams’ voice and Yahaya’s embodied movement personifies displaced individuals and their truth”, SSAP said.
