It was a real pleasure to collaborate with the very talented BX Pye for my first ‘Live Session at Sunset’ and I’m so excited to put this very special live session out into the world! I knew the first time I saw Pye compete in a Beatbox battle many moons ago that I would love to work with him and here it is!
Collaboration with BX Pye
Pye came down to Cardiff to work on a few exciting bits earlier this year (yet to be released) and this live session. It was such a brilliant weekend to jam, and develop music with someone who can create so many incredible sounds, just from his voice!

You can find all of BX Pye’s work and upcoming gigs here:

About the Song
If you know me and my songwriting, you’ll know that I write when I’m happy, sad, pondering, and everything in between and place a lot of emphasis on words. Songwriting is so often a space of sollice. Lyrically, this song is quite a special one for me and quite close to my heart. It was very much a song I wrote for myself to come to terms with loving someone deeply whilst processing pain and looking back to what could be seen as the good days, “Will you take us back, to where it all began. Do you recall, how you held my hand? Those summer nights, staring at the moon, the stars they shone, down on me and you”.
The chorus holds a line that shows that there is so much to be glad of and that there is beauty in the here and now, indeed the very precious present, if we chose to see it. It also highlights the essence of sheer connection, honesty and togetherness “Nothing outside and nothing in-between”. Equally I go on to sing “the grass is greener where it’s watered. I see you outside and in my dreams, hope you know that you are wanted”, highlighting that despite challenge there is still so much love and that relationships take work and watering.
The second verse shows a vulnerable side whilst also very much opening up to the possibility that even better times could lie ahead and embracing vulnerability in not necessarily holding all the answers, “Will you make us right, get us through this tide, like the good old days, when we didn’t fight. All those lies, all this truth, when the cards are dealt, with I play the fool?”.

The Power of Music
As well as being able to collaborate with amazing human beings like BX Bye, it still continues to amaze me when I play or hear this song in just how precisely it can take me back to exactly how I felt when I wrote it – You’ll be glad to know, that many good times did lie ahead and they still do!
Who should I collaborate with for the next Live Session at Sunset in 2024?
In peace,
Bettie xo
